Hidden blessings

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)

Hidden blessings - this is the day the Lord has madeHooray! God has given us this day as a gift. No matter what’s going wrong or will go wrong today, God is providing some good in it. Jesus our Redeemer will redeem the day by bringing blessings from everything that feels like trials and curses.

In our relationship with our beloved, we are one of the blessings. We are a gift. Our sweetheart is a blessing to us. Our sweetheart is a gift to us. Even when it feels like he/she is anything but a blessing, God has given himself to us through our beloved, and he is giving himself through us to our beloved.

We can find the blessings simply be looking for them. However, it’s easier to pay attention to the negative, to the reasons to be unhappy. Therefore, God has given our sweetheart to us with this purpose in mind: to give us a companion who will help us find the hidden blessings in every trial.

Are you doing it? Do you have that kind of helpful relationship? Today?

Reflection Questions:

  1. In what ways am I a blessing for my sweetheart?
  2. In what ways is my sweetheart a blessing for me?

Strengthen your relationship:
Tell each other the blessings you see today. What’s making you feel happy? And what’s a difficulty that’s endangering your joy or your beloved’s joy? Talk about it and share with each other the hidden blessings that can be found in it. Then close the discussion with a prayer that asks the Holy Spirit to open your eyes more fully to the many blessings in your lives and in your relationship.
