Three phrases for a happy family

In a short teaching for his Wednesday audience on May 13, 2015, Pope Francis said there are three words that must be in every home”: “May I, Thank you, Pardon me.” For happy family life, he said, these phrases are needed in our hearts, homes and communities, and they mean more than just having good manners.

Pope Francis is describing the difference between a worldly family and a Christ-centered family. Children raised in a home where everyone is respected and loved — which these three phrases represent — contribute to the work of Christ in helping make this a better world.
